The major players in the agricultural sector of the Sierra Leone economy are multinationals which have acquired long leases for vast portions of farm land in the outskirts of the Western Area but mostly in the provinces.

The industry falls under the purview of the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security.

The Government’s economic growth policy lends a lot of support to this sector in the form of tax and other incentives.
